It's a shame this book was released just a few months before this exam is to be retired. I've been on the verge of taking this exam for many months, but haven't been able to find any decent study material that's up to date. The last official VMWare Press book only covers through VSphere version 6.0, and based on my experience studying their 6.0 material for the Foundations exam, too much has changed for that to be very useful. This book is packed with information and also includes online flash cards and exam questions for review. The tone is clear and direct, and the lab activities help to reinforce the concepts. I expect to pass the exam without a problem after spending a few weeks with this material. It looks like VMWare press will release a new VCP study guide late this year, presumably to cover the 2021 version of this exam, but even so, I'd recommend picking up this book, as the format really makes the material easy to absorb.***UPDATE*** I passed the exam on my first attempt this morning. Prior to purchasing this book, I'd gone through the CBT Nuggets videos and labs which were good to give an introduction to the material, but nowhere near detailed enough to prepare for the exam. I spent 2 weeks reading this book, taking notes on flashcards. Then, I spent a full week drilling those flashcards and the included online sample exams until all that material became second nature. The test was still tough, but I'd retained enough knowledge to pass. If you are going to take this exam before it's retired, this book and the sample tests that come with it are the best study materials out there.
